Siem Reap Booyoung Country Club Description
Siem Reap Booyoung Country Club, formerly known as Siem Reap Lake Golf Resort, was the third international standard golf course to be established in the Angkor Wat area. Completed at a cost of $150 million, the course was built in just one year and is located a mere 6 kilometers from the center of Siem Reap town.
Designed by renowned Japanese golf course architect Kentaro Sato, Siem Reap Booyoung Country Club is the largest golf complex in Angkor Wat. The course has hosted several high-profile local tournaments, including visits from dignitaries such as the Cambodian Prime Minister. The course is surrounded by luxury villas, which, though unoccupied, add to the grandeur of the landscape.
The layout of Siem Reap Booyoung Country Club features generous palm-lined fairways, making it suitable for golfers of all skill levels. With 5 sets of tees, the course caters to both beginners and seasoned players. Unusually, both the front and back nines start with long par 5s, and the most challenging par 4s are found on holes 9 and 18, ensuring that golfers maintain their focus throughout their round.
The course’s unique features include meandering creeks that cross several holes and excellent greenside bunkering, which require precise shot-making. Some holes also feature split fairways, offering golfers the choice of aggressive or conservative approaches to the greens. However, the wide, flat fairways and large greens provide a balanced level of difficulty.
Course conditions are impeccable, with the latest variety of Paspalum grass used on the tee boxes, fairways, and greens. The clubhouse, the largest structure amid the surrounding rice paddies, offers luxurious facilities, including elaborate saunas and shower areas for golfers to relax after their round. The main restaurant serves international cuisine, with Korean dishes being particularly recommended. The authentic atmosphere is further enhanced by the use of metal chopsticks, rarely seen outside Korea, and the well-trained caddies who bow respectfully throughout the round.
Siem Reap Booyoung Country Club provides an exceptional golfing experience, combining a well-maintained course with luxurious amenities and a touch of cultural authenticity.
