Description

Best Ocean Golf Club is located 40 minutes from downtown Bangkok. Designed by Schmidt and Curley, it is billed as the most challenging golf course in Bangkok. The course is near the ocean, so sea breezes create pleasant playing conditions.

The links-style course is quite challenging and not suitable for beginners or any golfer having a bad day. From the tips, the 7200-yard course is nearly impossible for all but the most accomplished players. Many holes have water on both sides of the fairway, and the sea breeze often helps errant shots find trouble.

The Best Ocean course features tight fairways and elevated greens that demand well-struck drives and accurate approach shots. Planning and strategy from the tee, along with nerve on the shot to the green, are crucial for a good score. There is water on every hole, with most having water left and right. This course demands straight and accurate drives, so golfers should be prepared to bring plenty of extra balls.

The best hole on the course is the par-3 17th, which would not be out of place on the PGA Tour. Ranging from 195 yards from the white tees to 230 yards from the black tees, the hole is over water to a wide but shallow green protected by large bunkers in front.

The pro shop, clubhouse, and practice facilities are all adequate, as expected from a top golf club. However, the real draw here is the golf course itself.

Every Thailand golfer needs to try this course at least once, if not for the fun, then at least for the challenge. Just be sure to bring a lot of extra golf balls.
