Itinerary
A relaxing way to see all of Ireland's great places and hidden treasures at a leisurely pace.
Plus, there is ample time to explore and shop on your own or with new friends.
Day 1, ARRIVE IN DUBLIN, IRELAND
Welcome to Dublin! Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to your hotel (if transfer is included). Spend the
afternoon relaxing or travel to the Guinness Storehouse and discover what goes into making a pint of Guinness – the
ingredients, the brewing process, the time, the craft and the passion. The journey ends on the roof in the Gravity Bar
with a pint and a spectacular view of Dublin. This evening, get to know your fellow travelers over a Welcome Drink
at your hotel.
Note: If for some reason you cannot locate the transfer representative, please refer to the section entitled “Contact
Information” to contact the ground operator in the city that you are visiting for assistance.
Day 2, DUBLIN
Glimpse Viking and medieval times as you pass by Christ Church to stately St. Patrick's Cathedral, a legacy of
religious power from the 12th century. On then to the seat of learning at the heart of Dublin – Trinity College. Walk
across the cobbled squares to the old library and see one of Ireland's greatest treasures – the famed 8th century
Book of Kells. Spend the rest of your day exploring the city's stylish shops, Georgian squares, galleries and museums
or find a corner in a café or pub. (FB)
Day 3, DUBLIN / BLARNEY / KILLARNEY.
After driving through the Curragh, the heart of Ireland's equestrian country. On to Blarney
Castle with its magical stone that gives the gift of eloquence for a kiss. Time to stop at Blarney
Woollen Mills to shop for Waterford Crystal and other handicrafts before continuing on to
bustling Killarney. The town on the lakes is famous for its lively pubs and open, cheerful
atmosphere, full of what the Irish call "craic!" (Gaelic for fun) (FB,D)
Day 4, DINGLE PENINSULA EXCURSION.
Set out today on the Dingle Peninsula, which thrusts out into the Atlantic to claim Ireland’s most
westernly point. Here, majestic hills soar green and purple over unspoiled valleys, glittering
mountain streams tumble down to lakes and golden beaches stretch for miles. This peninsula is
a Gaeltacht, an area where the Irish language is preserved. Learn about the Blasket Islands,
scene of many shipwrecks and once the home of a close-knit fishing and farming community, at
the Blasket Centre. Since 1953, the islands have been uninhabited. There is time to explore
the town of Dingle (An Daingean), a thriving, colourful fishing port. Return to Killarney where
the balance of the day is free. (FB)
Day 5, KENMARE & GARNISH ISLAND EXCURSION.
Stroll around the quaint artist village of Kenmare, situated on the mouth of the River Sheen.
Then enjoy breathtaking vistas as you journey to Glengarriff where you board a local boat and
set out on the short journey to Garnish Island. Also known
as Ilnacullin, this small island was transformed into an exotic
garden in 1910 by Harold Peto. Framed by views of Bantry Bay, the
gardens are landscaped with Neo-classical follies and planted with
rich subtropical flora. An added attraction of the boat trip to this
Gulf Stream paradise is the chance to see cavorting seals in
Bantry Bay. (FB)
Day 6, KILLARNEY / CLIFFS OF MOHER / GALWAY.
This morning cross the Shannon estuary by ferry and enter County Clare. Stop for a walk along
the Cliffs of Moher, rising approximately 700 feet above the pounding Atlantic waves. Then
travel north across the Burren, a suddenly stark and barren landscape dotted with rare flora.
Drop in for lunch at Rathbaun Farm and meet a Galway farming family
as they carry out their everyday chores. Watch as the farmer shears a
sheep and maneuvers his flock with the help of his dog. Next, on to
tour Galway, "City of the Tribes," including lovely Galway Cathedral.
Arriving at your hotel, take time to dine and "watch the sun go down on
Galway Bay." (FB, AT)
Day 7, ARAN ISLANDS EXCURSION.
Travel out to Rossaveal to board a ferry to the enchanted island of Inis Mor, the biggest of the
Aran Islands. Arriving on the island, take a mini bus tour, which highlights the main attractions
of the island including the austere landscape crisscrossed with dry stonewalls, amazing coastal
views and the Cliff of Dun Aengus where you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the Atlantic
Ocean. Return to the islands main town, Kilronan, where there is time to explore the shops and
perhaps pick up a traditional Aran Sweater. Later, return to the mainland and transfer to your
hotel for the night. (FB, D)
Day 8, CONNEMARA EXCURSION.
In the west of Ireland, the starkly beautiful mountains of Galway and Mayo
drop down the coast. Little whitewashed cottages are scattered over a land of
mountains, brooks and rivers. Visit Kylemore Prakhar, a castellated neo-
Gothic mansion, occupied by the Irish Benedictine community of nuns who
came from Ypres after World War I. The balance of the evening is free. (FB,
D)
Day 9, GALWAY / DUBLIN.
On your final touring day, travel across the fertile plains of Meath to Clonmacnoise, an ancient
monastic site founded in AD 545 by St Ciaran. This timeless and reflective place is in sharp
contrast to your final destination today – Dublin. This evening, join your fellow travelers for
Farewell "Shindig" at the Old Jameson Distillery, including a tour, whiskey tasting, dinner and
entertainment. (FB,D)
Day 10, DEPART DUBLIN.
